Beady Eye – Live At The Empress Hall – Blackpool – Upmixed to 7.1 Surround by Steve Belgrave. Mastered By Pete Maher.
Arguably, Oasis were one the best, if not the best UK bands of the 90’s. In 2013 I was given the project of Upmixing Beady Eye’s new live album ‘Live At The Empress Hall – Blackpool’ to 7.1 surround sound. It was being edited for both DVD and Cinema and every nuance of the live performance needed to shine through and feel as if you were smack bang in the best spot in the audience. Its an immense challenge on projects like this, the pressure is always on. Plus I’m a fan, so I pile on even more pressure on myself. I edit the surround field immersed like I’m at the gig myself. Its a fantastic recording and all the energy is there to be teased out into the 3D space. Once I’m done its off to Pete for mastering. He works his magic. Job done. I can relax now, so I sit back in the studio chair and turn the lights down even lower than usual. I’m in full 7.1 surround mode. Volume up and I’m away with the Northern gods. Did I happen mention I was a fan?!
